Final Tables of 2013

The end of 2013 is here....

pYL for 2013 is now complete and forever more results are set in stone. Are you happy with what you achieved, are you jumping for delight or are you waiting for 2014 to come to try that little bit harder?
So the overall time table is below and it shows that Gregan Clarkson run away with it. He forever will be the 2013 champion and he gets to walk off with the 2013 trophy and if he wants, a free tattoo! Gregan please let me know if you want a complimentary tattoo of “pYL 2013”?? ;-)
John Broom finished in second 19minutes and 3 seconds behind Gregan, with Dawn 16 minutes 53 behind John. Just missing out on the podium was Dave Playforth who was only 32 seconds behind Dawn, but he managed to jump over me on the last parkrun of the year! Cheers Dave J

The age grade table was wrapped up a few runs ago with Dawn’s parkrun at Graves, Gregan did improve his age grade at Peter Pan on his last run but it was never going to be enough. So congratulations to Dawn who finished 5.32% ahead of Gregan, who in turn finished 33.38% ahead of John. Dave Playforth once again knocked off the podium into fourth place a further 31.76% further back.

The unique parkrun table has also been without drastic change for a little while John Broom finishing top of the pile, well done John. With 28 different parkruns in England and one at Malahide in the Republic of Ireland giving John 31 points, 2 more then Dawn. I just make it onto the podium with 16 different parkruns in England. Not one person managed a run in Wales or Scotland this year, bet that’s not the case in 2014!

I will be in contact with the winners working out the best parkrun to meet them at to had over the trophy and have a photo taken.....if they agree!

So there you have it, it all starts again on New Years day when we will be open to new runners joining our merry competition. It has been decided not to change a thing….stick with the 8 evens we currently have. We will be able to compare 2013 to 2014 as well, see who is doing better….and worse. I have enjoyed keeping us all up to date, it does take time to complete a update, but its interesting to see how things are going. I am hoping the soon to be released AP (would allow updates to a Access Database) will be useful to me, but will wait and see. Paul Backen is the only person to let me know so far he is joining, welcome Paul but I do hear second hand of other interest. Please let me know at parkrunYL@gmail.com or on a facebook post you wish to join in. Same if you wish to be removed. If you are joining I need to know your name and parkrun number (so I can find you on the results).

Right time to get some running trainers on…..

Tables as of December 27th

HoHoHo.....Merry Christmas everybody.

With only one parkrun left in the year 2013 it was about time I updated the league tables. Ill try and update the tables as soon as I can after the last run (this Saturday) so we can finish off 2013 and move onto 2014....more on that later.

In the Overall time table, John and Dawn with their visit to Graves overtook me to be sitting in 2nd and 3rd place behind Gregan. It looks like this table is now set and Gregan will be the winner....

In the Age Grade/WAVA table Dawn jumped above Gregan and now sits 5.67% ahead of Gregan. I know Gregan is planning a trip to Peter Pan on Saturday but it think it is very unlikely he will get the 83.05% needed to go ahead of Dawn, this assumes of course that Dawn doesn't improve on a parkrun herself.

As for the unique parkruns this has been won by John Broom as he is two ahead of Dawn with one possible run to go. Well done John!!

As for 2014, the league will be opened up to new recruits, until as this year, the last day of February. All you need to do it email me at parkrunyl@gmail.com or post a reply on a posting on the facebook page. I will need to know your name and your parkrun unique ID so I can locate you in the results pages. I will assume all current participants of 2013 will want to be involved in 2014, but please if you have no intention of running a good number of the parkruns please let me know as more people in the tables more time consuming it is.

All winners will receive a trophy to keep...thank you Dave Playforth for them. I will arrange a suitable parkrun in the New Year to hand over, hopefully photos of the winners with the trophies will follow in 2014. I will I promise take a photo of the trophies all together later on today and post here.

All the very best to you all,

Mark

Age Grade Table - repost (16 December)

There was a error with this opening on the main post earlier today

Tables as of December 16th

OK where to start?

The overall time table. Gregan Clarkson now sits top of this table....that's the thanks I get for driving him there - knocked off the top...nice! Gregan smashed a 17.51 there which was only a handful of seconds slower then the course record on what was a cold windy parkrun day. Vince McGowan knocked out a cracking time of 21.14 which is a strong run on the tough Graves course and Steve Taylor a 22.04. I ran a time slower then I did earlier in the year so I dont get any yellow on my line! Boo Hoo! Last week Dave Playforth revisited his old stomping ground of Sewerby and knocked a chunk off with a 21.37. Nice running Dave. This leaves Gregan pretty untouchable in this league and think he will be getting his hand on the trophy. (More on that in a bit).

The age grade table. This is interesting and though Gregan is at the top of the table, Dawn Broom is in touching distance. The difference currently sits at 66.46% which looking at Dawns other percentages should be in her grasp, even on Graves tough course assuming Dawn gets to visit before 2013 is done and dusted. Gregan maybe able to make it a touch harder with a improved run he is planning at Peter Pan...but the run he has banked there already is strong. What does 66.46 equate to in terms of time for Dawn......I think ill leave that for Dawn to work out...

Unique runs table. John has improved his position slightly over the last couple of weeks by a run at Winchester that Dawn did not run in. John completed it in17.50 which is faster then any time he has in the yPL.

Trophies. Dave Playforth kindly donated 3 trophies he had made for yPL back near the beginning of 2013. These will be awarded to the three winners of each table for safekeeping in 2014, to be returned near the end of that year. For each winner I will present them with the trophy at a logical parkrun early in 2014. Massive thanks to Dave for the trophies and ill post a picture of them all together waiting for their winners to claim them in the next few days...

So there are few parkrun days left in 2013, soon ill be asking for new entrants to the 2014 league. If anyone doesn't wish to be automatically put forward to the 2014 leagues from the 2013 please let me know.

As for the events for next year, I have been canvassing opinion. The trip to Graves the last weekend was enjoyed by all, and thought its a tough parkrun its a enjoyable parkrun. There did seem a consensus that a couple of extra parkruns would be of benefit next year. Finding the balance between enough and too many is a tricky line to walk. We currently have 8, and as much as I would like to include this one and that one (as all are appealing) the two that seem to get a lot of mentions are Rother Valley and Lincoln. Both are two of the closest to Hull as well, where many of the leagues runners live. I know I cant please all, but I also what to do what the majority of people think is correct. Please keep telling me your thoughts and posting in response to this what you think.

Few extra stats as of 16th of December, there are 16 of us in the league:

Graves run by 6 runners
Hull run by 15 runners
Peter pan run by 10 runners
Leeds run by 5 runners
Pontefract run by 6 runners
Scunthorpe run by 12 runners
Sewerby run by 13 runners
York run by 10 runners

Thanks for reading,

Mark

Tables as of December 1st

Quick update this week, as I am off on a trip that will finish with a run at Darleys parkrun near Derby on Saturday.

So on the Age Grade table we have a new leader, a strong recent set of runs from Dawn Broom puts her top of the pile! I know Gregan is planning a Graves parkrun soon (14th of December) and as Dawn and Gregan are so close if Dawn runs Graves this year too that will be the run that decides it.....and on the toughest course too. Its interesting viewing the age grade percentages for both runners at each event, not a lot between them at most events but the circa 6% difference at York really makes a big difference...and puts Dawn top of the pile.

Big shout out to Dave Playforth and Sheila Maddison who have both done Pontefract and Graves in the last two weeks and moves them both up the tables. Dave just has Leeds missing now and Sheila Leeds and Sewerby.

On the unique runs its still John Broom leading the way on 26 events and Dawn just behind on 25. Quite a undertaking doing a fresh parkrun event on average every other week for the whole of 2013. I know my 14 feels a lot, but 25&26 is some achievement.

Lets all try and add some yellow between now and the end of the competition, at the very end of December.

We need to think about 2014 soon too......more events/different events, what works, what doesn't, what should be changed. If you have any thoughts please share with the group...

Till next time (2 weeks time I think)

Mark

Tables as of 17th of November 2013

Hi all,

Its been 4 weeks since last update and there has been some improvement in the tables as shown in yellow highlight. Dawn Broom has run Leeds and Hull to make a strong late push on all the tables...go Dawn!

Good strong notable run also by Vince McGowan at Hull (first time under 19 minutes and he runs the same time of 18.57 twice! Simon Ellerker managed a PB at Sewerby paced round by Phill Taylor, I wish I could run that fast at Sewerby, maybe that could be a long term challenge to set myself now I am back fit! Well done Simon, can you go faster? Last and far from least Kristina Rose over the last few weeks has knocked off over a minute from her Hull time.....the hard work is paying off for Kristina. Well done.

Until the next time...

Tables as of 24th of October 2013

Its been a while, but there is not a lot of yellow updates! Come on everyone one last push? Since the last update Kristina and I visited Leeds parkrun and John Broom, without Dawn visited Hull. John now has some daylight over Dawn in the unique parkruns table and I have just inched ahead of Gregan on the overall time table. John Broom seems to be making some good progress of late on the overall time and age grade tables after a slow start to the year (on these tables) but can there be a late surge to the top? John has Graves, Leeds and Sewerby to tackle for further progress on events he has not run this year and Gregan just has Graves.

In the middle of the pack Kristina has just stepped ahead of Keith and Dawn with a strong run at Leeds, does she have her sights on  Simon and Dave who in the next top places ahead of her both sit on exactly 4:42:31 (what’s the chances of that!). Looking and comparing their times at different events is very interesting, sometimes there is over 2 minutes difference but then at Scunthorpe they have matching PBs!! Lots to play for there in that little sub plot.

Marathon season now nearly over for 2013, time for parkrun tourism maybe? Carry on enjoying your running everyone…im tail runner at Hull this week so I wont be uprooting any trees, not that I’m in the form to do that anyway at the moment.

All the best,

Tables as of 30th of September

So three weeks since the last update, and there is some change in the tables. Gregan Clarkson is now powering ahead on the Overall Time and Age Grade league, overtaking me, tut tut! Two fast runs at Sewerby and Pontefract has put him streets ahead at the top.

Vince McGowan has hit some form at Hull parkrun running a PB in the process and only being 1 second behind his new PB a week later. Well done Vince, good to see you past your injury troubles.

Simon Porter visited Peter Pan parkrun and that is his second fastest course out of Hull, Scunthorpe, Sewerby and York, with York being the fastest.

With the unique parkrun league being dominated by John and Dawn Broom, its still John who leads by one over Dawn. Two new parkruns (Doncaster and Maidstone) for them in the last three weeks and another visit to Dewsbury.

One last shout out goes to Keith Conkerton who got a PB on his third run (second this year) at Poznan parkun in Poland. Well done Keith. Poznan is not in Yorkshire / pYL so no extra points for you! ;-)

So its getting colder now, soon there will be ice and snow on the roads and the footbpaths, time to knock one or two more trips off before it gets too cold and too dark....i must get to Leeds myself and maybe one or two others but soon it will be back to my local fabulous Hull parkrun week after week. Its great seeing and running different parkruns but there is no place like home! Ill try and update the leagues in 2 weeks time, but it maybe 3 again...you never quite know!

Tables as of 9th of September

3 weeks since the last update, I always plan on 2 but sometimes it just cant happen. Hopefully when parkrun release an API (one is on the way) I will have the ability to use that to speed up the updates....

So in three weeks what has happened. Well Sheila Maddison managed her first sub 30 minute run at Hull since December 2012, which gives her a nice boost at passing that milestone this year. I bumped into John and Dawn Broom at York, who both ran round in just under 20 minutes, well done to them and for Dawn that is an age grade of 83.46% and is the highest recorded by any of us in the league this year. Well done Dawn.

John Broom in the last three weeks has run three different parkruns, where Dawn has only run two so John is sitting all on his own at the top of the league, will Dawn catch him now? Plenty of time left, I think Dawn may need to find a Saturday morning job one week for John to complete!

In terms of leading the overall time and age grade leagues I am sat there ready to be knocked off. As I have completed 7 of the 8 courses (i am missing Leeds) I am there by default. Who will knock me off?

That's all from this week folks, the weather is turning get those fast parkruns in while you still can!

As ever, any mistakes please let me know, next update will hopefully be in 2 week time.

Tables as of 20th of August

Yellow everywhere.

Got to start with Gregan Clarkson’s run at Hull this weekend. I think he surprised himself with a 15.59 and a age grade of 81.13% the first time at parkrun that Gregan has been into the eighties. Well done Gregan, great running.

Then there was a tour to York, with Sheila Maddison, Dave Playforth, Keith Conkerton, Stephen Taylor and Vince McGowan all going. All five had never run there before and even with a bit of wind there were some excellent times. Steve Taylor only 5 seconds slower then his Hull time, but Vince McGowan knocked out a run 4 seconds quicker then his best Hull time this year! The same two chaps knocked off good chunks of time off their Sewerby time the week before, well done.

On the unique  parkrun table over half the runners managed a new parkrun in the last two weeks, nice tourism! John and Dawn Brooms still lead the way and look to be in a commanding position. Will they be sharing the title or will one pip the other, or can someone catch them?

So is there going to be lots more yellow in two weeks time?

Tables as of 22 July 2013

Its been a while, but im back and below are the updated tables for the pYL On the overall time I have left highlighted in yellow the changes since the last update. Congratulations must got to Stephen Taylor and Guy Gibson for improving on there previous times at Hull and Sewerby respectively and John and Dawn Broom logged a run at Peterpan parkrun. Stepehen Taylors time at Hull now is so very close to a sub 19 minute run, but can he do it this year?

In the unique parkun table John and Dawn Broom have extended their lead significantly by running at Cross Flats, Peter Pan, Marple and Clumber parkruns. They also ran for a second time at Rother Vally and I must say that is a very nice 1 lap course. Road trip anyone?

The updates will be more regular in the forthcoming period, ill aim for every other week.

Tables as of 20th of June 2013

This will be the last update for a short while due to 'vacation time' if interested see www.2013route66.wordpress.com. When I am back I will catch up on the league and publish all the wonderful times you all have ran in my absence.

In the last couple of weeks there have been two improving runs by Steven Chapman and Guy Gibson, both have pushed their times at Hull lower, well done. Dawn and John Broom have extended their lead on the Unique parkrun table (Pontefract and Rother Vally runs) and due to a Scunthorpe run on the 8/June I am now top of the Overall Time table. Who is going to knock me off?

Gregan are you going to get back into it now your not sitting at the top anymore? Phill Taylor is back running parkruns (last week at Sewerby) will Phill make a play for top of the table? Will Steven Taylor do some road trips and make a play for the top..? We are about 1/2 way through the year, plenty of time for lots more changes....

Tables as of 3rd of June

Its been 3 parkruns since my last update and since we are in the summer months and as people will be hitting form I expected lots of PB’s. I was wrong, there was only a few performances that needed me to update the tables.
Simon Porters run at Scunthorpe on the 25th of 20.44 was his first a Scunthorpe and a very nice time. That moves Simon ahead of me on Overall time and Age grade and into 3rd place on both.
Guy Gibson ran a yearly best 21.21 at Hull also on the 25th which matched his best time from 2011, but not as quick as his 2012 time. Hope your over your injury soon Guy and you can aim for that 2012 time of 20.39.
Steve Chapman ran Malahide parkrun last parkrun day and moved well clear of the bottom of the unique parkrun table.

I hope to be running Scunthorpe this Saturday injury permitting, so give me a shout if your going to be there.

All that has to be said is, come on lets have some good PB's in the middle of summer...

Tables as of 30th of April

Hello all, please see below the updated tables as of 30/04/2013. Lots of people have been shaving. Shaving time off their parkruns that is, seems like we are now in the season of great times and season bests if not personal bests.

When updating the tables its always nice to see the improvement being made, seconds being knocked off and knowing that peoples Saturdays have been filled with added pleasure. I only wish I could join in with the fun....hopefully wont be long.

Tables as of 15th of April

Tables as of 15th of April are below:

Special note must go out to Simon Porter who ran his seasonal best time at Sewerby of 21.17 for the third time this year. Come on Simon lets see a seasonal best next week...Simons all time best time at Sewerby is 20.48.

Simon Ellerker won the Sewerby event this week for his first ever 1st position, and only 2 seconds in front of second place. This must have been some day for Simon as he knocked 49 seconds off a PB stretching back to February. Well run Simon.

Peter Pan parkrun had its first event this week, allowing many runners to knock another parkrun off. Gregan who has run as many of the yPL parkruns as anyone extended his lead in the Overall time and WAVA/Age Grade leagues. Well done Gregan.

Keith Conkerton made some headway on the Unique parkrun table with his second parkrun (first this year) in Poznan (Poland). Well done Keith, when is the next trip?
